The 2016 Asian Financial Society (AFS) China-US Real Estate Investment Forum and the celebration dinner party for the establishment of AFS-RE Chapter was held on May 3rd at KPMG Conference room in New York City. We were excited to welcome about 145 attendees to our event, among which included 14 speakers with executive/senior positions, and about 30 other VIP invitees with key roles in real estate industry.
AFS China-US Real Estate Investment Forum Coming to a Successful End

The 2016 Asian Financial Society (AFS) China-US Real Estate Investment Forum and the celebration dinner party for the establishment of AFS-RE Chapter was held on May 3rd at KPMG Conference room in New York City. We were excited to welcome about 145 attendees to our event, among which included 14 speakers with executive/senior positions, and about 30 other VIP invitees with key roles in real estate industry.

The event was started with a networking event at the foyer outside of the Pine Conference Room from 5:30 p.m. Reception food, Sushi and beverage were provided for guests. This warm-up part went on very well helping attendees getting familiar with each other first.

At 6:20 p.m., AFS-RE team began moving guests inside to the conference room and starting the forum. Francis Sheng, the Head of AFS-RE Chapter and Managing Partner of Garden Capital, addressed the welcome note and hosted the forum.

Michael Pralle (the Mananging Partner at CCP Holdings and Former GE Real Estate CEO) delivered the US Keynote Speech on New York real estate market, residential new developments and the ways to make money in today’s market.

Then came the US panel discussion moderated by Richard Morean (Vice President of Capital Markets and Principal of SKB). The panel participants include Frank Marro (CEO of DCM), Frederick Cooper (Senior Vice President of Toll Brothers, Inc.), Jim Costello (Senior Vice President of Real Capital Analytics) and Scott Latham (Vice President of JLL New York Capital Markets Group). The four panelists answered questions surrounding the theme of “Current State of US Economy and Real Estate Investment” from various angles as US investors, developers, market trend analysts, and brokerage service providers.
After a 20-minutes dinner break, Shanqing Zhou (Commercial Counselor of the Economic & Commercial Office, Consul General of the PRC New York) addressed another Keynote Speech representing China side. He talked about the opportunities and challenges of Chinese investment in US market.

Grant Jiao (Managing Director of Gemdale US) led the following “China’s Current Economy Status and US Inbound Investment” panel, joined by Catherine Liang (Head of CRE of China Construction Bank US), Jerome Sanzo (Executive Director of Real Estate Finance at ICBC US), Roy Chen (Managing Director of US Real Estate of China Orient Asset Management), and Richard Xu (President of Wins Finance). The moderator divided questions into two parts for Chinese lenders and Chinese investors in US respectively.
The third panel “US Real Estate Regulatory Policy and Deal Structure for Overseas Investors” came after a 10-minutes dessert break. Angela Yu (Partner of KPMG Financial Services Tax

The forum and dinner party wound up in a relaxing and warm after-event networking with wines and soft drinks. Most of the guests stayed to the end after 10 p.m. to talk to more experienced fellow real estate professionals. The 2016 Asian Financial Society (AFS) China-US Real Estate Investment Forum and the celebration dinner party for the establishment of AFS-RE Chapter was a huge success, and AFS-RE team is looking forward to seeing you in our next event!
